China 1901 / 02: Authentic photo from the time of the Boxer Upraise.

This photo has been made by an Austrian marine who served in China at that time. The photo shows a Chinese lady selling pots and other small stuff. Destroyed houses in the back.

Size is 4,5 “ x 3 “ (12 x 9,5 cm ). Thin photo paper, fine condition.

Chinese Scholars Rock


So called Chinese scholar's rock on a stand. Flat. Partially semi-transparent stone. Both sides carved wit 2 scholars in landscape scene. The natural inclusions of the stone have been used to better work out the scenic impression.

These characteristic miniature rocks have always been treasured among the circles of literati in China for many centuries.

The stone stands 4,2 inches (without stand, simple wood), is 2,8 in. wide and 0.4 in deep. (2 of the image-details look that transparent because a torch was hold near).

Fine condition, no faults.

Decorative Chinese Seal with Motto

China Seal Toad on Lotus


Chinese vintage leisure seal with 5 characters as motto engraved: zhong xiao yi-sheng zhi 忠孝一生志 (loyalty and filial piety as ones life-long ideal).

A relief has been carved at one side of the seal, depicting a son pushing his father in a wheel chair. Jiang Xiang, a seal carver from the Republic period is the artist of this seal.

14 x 30 x 35 mm ( 0,6 x 1,2 x 1,4 inches), very fine condition.

China, Qing Dynasty: Square metal box, mostly used to store ink.

Inscription of 9 characters at the top. Oval producers stamp at the bottom of the box stating that it is Qing Dynasty. Polished surface.

2,9 x 2,95 x 0,9 inches (74 x 75 x 23 mm), fine condition.

Chinese Leisure Seal Tang Yuanye


Fine leisure seal by the famous artist Tang Yuanye  唐源邺 (1886-1968).

Signed with his name Zui Shi ( drunken stone). Tang is also famous as calligrapher. At the top of this attractive seal a string is fixed.

As actual seal 4 characters are engraved: Zhu hua yin guan 驻花吟馆: Staying at the home of the chanting flowers

1,2 x 1,2 x 0,45 inches (31 x 32 x 18 mm). Fine condition.
