Exciting Art Nouveau postcard promoting the import-exhibition in Frankfurt in 1919.

Lithographed using the colors blue, green gold and black only. Very powerful design. Used as postcard in Germany in 1919. Good condition. Lina von Schauroth, b. Holzmann (1874 - 1970 ) was an artist and artisan from Frankfurt. She became famous for her designs of glass-windows and mosaics used in public buildings. During the 2 wars she engaged in social-politic welfare, later she engaged in animal welfare.

Artist signed: Raphael Kirchner. E.S. W. Mark at reverse. The postcard has been used i 1904. Neat writing, good condition.

Complete set of eight b/w postcards „Postcard of Old Battlefield of Ryojun“.

Inscriptions in Japanese and Chinese. Images of monuments, battle field, canon, shrine, generals. (General Nogi is seated in the center next to Russian general Anatoly Stessel after Russian forces surrendered at Port Arthur on 2 January 1905).

The Ryojun Guard District (旅顺要港部 Ryojun Yōkōbu) was the major navy base for the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Kwantung Leased Territory before and during Second Sino-Japanese War All postcards are unused and in very good condition, the sleeve shows light wear.

Belle Époque – Art Nouveau: Hard to find complete set of First Series of Simplicissimus postcards (Tanz- und Faschingsbilder) by Ferdinand Freiherr von Řezníček.

All six in mint, very good condition. The set comes in the original sleeve (the envelope with some creasing, foxing and wear).

Ferdinand Freiherr von Řezníček (1868 1909 in Munich) was an Austrian painter, caricaturist, and illustrator. Born to a noble Austrian family of Czech descent, he was a half-brother of composer Emil von Řezníček. Von Řezníček's father was a military officer, and Řezníček became a cavalry officer before following his artistic inclinations. In 1888, he set up an art studio with Paul Hoecher. Řezníček worked first with industrial designers before becoming a contributor to the journals Jugend, Simplicissimus und Fliegende Blätter.

Unused, very good condition.

Wiener Werkstaette evolved from the Vienna Secession, founded in 1897 as a progressive alliance of artists and designers. From the start, the Secession had placed special emphasis on the applied arts, and its 1900 exhibition surveying the work of contemporary European design workshops prompted the young architect Josef Hoffmann and his artist friend Koloman Moser to consider establishing a similar enterprise.

Unused, good condition. Artist signed

Alfred Grünfeld (1852 –1924) was an Austrian pianist and composer. He studied in Prague and Berlin before he settled at Vienna in 1873, where he received the title of "Kammervirtuose". He made tours through Europe and the United States. During a visit to Germany Grünfeld was appointed court pianist to Emperor Wilhelm I of Germany. From 1897 he was a professor at the Vienna Conservatory.

Grünfeld was the first pianist of note to make a recording. His brother was musician Heinrich Grünfeld.

Two funny old postcards from app. 1920, depicting Charlie Chaplin with flowers.

Both have been published by ELUG (Germany) as number 707 and 708., Both are unused and in good condition.

Sir Charles Spencer "Charlie" Chaplin, KBE (1889 – 1977) was a British comic actor and filmmaker who rose to fame in the silent era. Chaplin became a worldwide icon through his screen persona "the Tramp" and is considered one of the most important figures of the film industry. His career spanned more than 75 years, from a child in the Victorian era to close to his death at the age of 88, and encompassed both adulation and controversy.
